LIPOSUCTION (FAT REMOVAL)

In liposuction surgery is fat absorbed from the areas with excess fat with the help of cannulas through small holes. It is a process for shaping the body. It is not a method used to lose weight. It is used to shape the body after the patient loses weight with diet or sports.

Sometimes the lubrication problem is regional. There is no serious weight problem, but the legs, waist or arms may be disproportionately thick. Patients in this group are the ones who benefit most from the liposuction procedure.

Liposuction can be applied to almost all problematic body areas:
• Abdomen
• Back and waist area
• Neck
• Upper arm
• Legs
• Ankles
• Hips
• Under the chin and some parts of the face

Since the fat cells taken from the areas where liposcution is performed, less fat will occur with weight gain in these areas, the body shape is preserved in a small amount of weight gain.

Liposuction does not provide any serious benefit to cellulite. A separate treatment method should be applied for cellulite.

LIPOSUCTION METHODS

Tumescent liposuction: It is the most commonly used liposuction method. Before liposuction, a mixture of drugs that reduce the vessels and provide numbness and plenty of salt water is given. Then, the oil is broken up and withdrawn by entering through small holes. If the fat is broken down and pulled by hand, this method is called CONVENTIONAL (CLASSIC) liposuction.

With a number of physics methods, it can be easily withdrawn from the unit area. Liposuction type is also named according to the method used for this purpose. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The most commonly used methods:

Ultrasound assisted method: In this method, following the administration of the tumescent, a tip that emits an ultrasonic wave breaks up the fat and facilitates the extraction of the fat. Then the fat is withdrawn by entering with cannulas. It should be used with care as heat is generated in the area.

Laser-assisted liposuction (laser liposuction): In this method, in order to facilitate the extraction of fat, it is entered with a tip that emits laser light at the end and the fat is melted and then the fat is withdrawn by vacuum. Again, this method should be used with caution, as heat is generated in the area.

Power assisted liposuction (ticle liposuction, lipomatic): In this method, the tip that will perform liposuction moves back and forth, up and down and cyclically. Like a blender or mixer, it whisks the oil and at the same time absorbs it. Like other methods, it is used to pull more oil and faster. It is easy to ensure homogeneity because it burns the oil by heating and the remaining oil lives inside. Again, there is no risk of burns as no heat is generated. While it is performed under local anesthesia, it is a method frequently used with local anesthesia as vibrations cause distraction and distraction from the patient’s pain.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Some pain and edema should be expected. It is recommended to use antibiotics for up to 5 days. It is not recommended to take a shower for 3 days after the procedure. You can then take a warm and short shower.

A corset should be used for up to 4 weeks after surgery. The corset can be removed and rested in between.

RESULTS

Results after liposuction are only noticeable after 1 month. It may take 3-4 weeks for the bruises and edema to disappear. The feeling of numbness and stiffness in the operation area may be longer. At the end of the 3rd month, a softer and painless tissue is formed in most of the patients. In a smaller group of patients, stiffness, numbness and surgery site pain may decrease and continue for a while.
